This Month's Show
June Merlino
August 17 – September 17
Opening reception Friday, August 17, 6-9pm
Artist June Merlino uses found objects in both the display of her pinhole photographs and in object assemblages. As she puts it, "Hunting for and selecting objects that bring forth a theme feels like an archaeological dig. First, I come upon various found objects and begin to assemble them in a serendipitous way. Later, I find the objects emerge into a theme of aesthetics and meaning."
The common theme for both the assemblages and photos is a message about self and one's transformation or transition and about the use of found objects and their transition and transformation. Both art forms engage a process of serendipity, angst, and humor.
