Sound From Around Town

The Scrap Exchange gallery presents: Sound from Around Town, unleashing the music in found objects
August 15 –Sept 15, 2008

Sound artists: Cathy Kielar, Blaise Kielar and Peter Reintjes
Opening Reception: Friday, August 15, 6 -9 PM- Found sound rhythm jam at 8 PM. – FREE

At this art exhibit, you can even touch and play the art! In fact you can drum, clang, scrape, jingle and shake the art. Explore your creation of rhythm fun with everyday objects found in your home remodel, kitchen, recycling bin or even your bedroom. Play creative rhythms on the Kielar’s acoustic instruments. Go wild with Reintjes’ transducer/loudspeaker electronic sounds, ala David Tudor’s Rainforest IV style. Applying his electronic talents, Reintjes uses found objects as if they were loudspeakers, as each object attributes its own resonant frequency to the sound experience.

I see and hear the beautiful musical instrument embedded in everyday objects.
