Durham Cinematheque presents Crazy Italian Night

Durham Cinematheque presents another unique film program under the stars in Durham Central Park, "Crazy Italian Night." It really is a lovely country and they sure know how to have fun — we have the films to prove it. Travelogues from Venice in the 1920's and from American television in the 1950's, plus a narrative excerpt broken off from a Sophia Loren feature, waiters in a Roman nightclub dressed (badly) as gladiators, a touch of opera, plus some crazy asides and other "lost in translation" moments. This show is outside in the grass, bring your lawn chair or blanket. Come early and bring a picnic. Music starts about an hour before showtime, the films will begin as soon as it is dark. Admission is free but donations are welcome, the "hat" will be passed.

Please note that Piedmont Restaurant is offering a Crazy Italian Night take-out special. Call Piedmont by Friday morning at 683-1213 and place your order (large or small) and then pick up your tasty thing on the way to the show. It's even better than popcorn.

The rain site is the Pavilion just across the street.
